Info
On 5 July 2026, Centre Bell in Montréal hosts Lionel Richie and Earth, Wind & Fire for Sing a Song All Night Long. Formed in Chicago in 1969 around Maurice White, Earth, Wind & Fire built a sound where funk, soul, R&B, disco and pop meet with tight horn lines and layered harmonies. Early 70s records leaned soul‑jazz, before albums like That’s the Way of the World, All ’n All and I Am pushed the group onto major stages with expanded lineups and crafted stage design. The 80s brought more electronic textures on Raise! and Powerlight. With Philip Bailey and Verdine White as core figures, the band keeps touring with a refreshed lineup, a catalog often sampled and quoted across genres.
Lionel Richie came up with the Commodores at Motown, then stepped into a solo path in the early 80s with Lionel Richie, Can’t Slow Down and Dancing on the Ceiling, blending pop, R&B and melodic ballads. He also wrote for others, including Lady for Kenny Rogers, and recorded Endless Love with Diana Ross. Later releases like Louder Than Words, Renaissance and Just Go extended the arc, before revisiting his songbook with Tuskegee. On stage, Richie navigates voice‑led storytelling and smooth grooves drawn from across his catalogue.
