André Rieu in Antwerpen, Nieuwjaarsconcert 2027

André Rieu returns to Antwerp with his New Year’s Concert 2027. The violinist and conductor from Maastricht built his career around the Viennese waltz and light classical music. After studies in Liège and Maastricht, he began with a small salon ensemble and in 1987 founded the Johann Strauss Orchestra, today a large orchestra that defines its sound and approach. With this lineup Rieu presents a programme in which Strauss sits alongside operetta, film music, popular melodies and accessible classical pieces, always guided by a strong sense of melody and rhythm.

Rieu appears on stage as both soloist and maestro, often surrounded by singers and a choir, with plenty of opportunity for contact with the audience. Expect an evening in which the waltz takes centre stage, smoothly blended with familiar themes and arrangements that let the orchestra shine without making the music less accessible. On 10 January 2027 he will perform at the AFAS Dome in Antwerp. An opportunity to hear the Johann Strauss Orchestra at full strength, with a repertoire that makes the start of the year light and musical.
