Nick Murphy aka Chet Faker

Chet Faker is back in Montréal on May 25, 2026 at MTELUS, 59 Rue Sainte-Catherine Est. Behind the alias, Nick Murphy has been shaping a downtempo blend of electronic textures and understated soul since the early 2010s. He first drew attention with a stripped take on No Diggity in 2011, then followed with the EP Thinking in Textures (2012) and the album Built on Glass (2014), where a hushed voice meets slow tempos and warm synths. He also explored collaborations, notably with Flume on the Lockjaw EP (2013) and with Marcus Marr on Work (2015), tracing a path between club impulses, pop structures and songwriter craft. From 2016, Murphy released under his own name with the EP Missing Link (2017) and the album Run Fast Sleep Naked (2019), opening the sound to more organic instrumentation. He revived Chet Faker with Hotel Surrender (2021), continuing a lean groove, soul influences and crisp electronic production — a palette he brings on stage at MTELUS for a set that moves between intimate melodies and low-lit rhythms.
