Info
Thaïs, a French comedian, casts a direct eye on family and its points of friction. In Fille de joie, she turns the imposed ritual of the family meal into a comic playground, moving between intimate revelations and observations that ring true. At 33, single and working as a freelance performer, she seizes on her vulnerabilities—eczema, allergies, impulse-related phobias—and uses them to tell how to stay afloat when everything itches a little, inside and out.
We encounter her vegan cousin, a father in the midst of a revelation, a very open mother, and that uncle who kills the mood in three sentences. Thaïs moves from one character to another, evokes secrets coming undone and small, everyday vexations, and shows how comedy can defuse prickly subjects without hiding the emotion. Her writing privileges detail, crisp lines, and sincerity.
Fille de joie is co-written with Stéphane Casez and Paul Brinio, and directed by Stéphane Casez. See it on 7 March 2026 at the Théâtre du Gymnase - Marie Bell in Paris to discover this new chapter in which Thaïs Vauquières tells the story of her tribe and, by extension, ours.
