Info
Dafné Kritharas forges a sensitive link between the shores of the Mediterranean. Born to a French mother and a Greek father, she transforms this dual heritage into a song that spans languages and memories. Greek, Bosnian, Armenian and Turkish songs answer one another, between oral tradition and personal composition, in a contemporary form attentive to its sources. Winner of the Prix des Musiques d’Ici in 2020 and the Académie Charles Cros prize in 2022 for her album Varka, she continues a precise exploration of popular repertoires, their circulation and cross-pollination.
Accompanied by close musical collaborators, she brings modes, timbres and narratives into dialogue. Her voice carries stories of the sea, of exile, of love and of resilience, with particular care given to the texts and the melodies. On 19 March 2026 at Paul B Massy, she will present a programme blending collected material, reinterpretations and original compositions, for a journey that gives voice to the contemporary plurality of the Mediterranean.
