On March 24, 2027, corto.alto will perform at Le Trabendo in Paris with its hybrid jazz conceived as a playground between stage and club. Behind this name is Liam Shortall, a composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist from Glasgow, who leads a collective project where brass rubs shoulders with dancefloor-ready beats, without losing the taste for improvisation and live performance.
On stage, it moves between electronic textures, hip-hop rhythms, and soulful accents, with tracks built like living blocks: they unfold, densify, and change direction as the exchanges unfold. Awarded at the Jazz FM Awards in 2025, corto.alto sits within this new British wave that blurs labels, while maintaining a clear signature: a nervy groove, organic arrangements, and a band energy that bridges jazz heritage with today’s production.
