On June 17, 2027, Clinton Fearon will stop by the Espace Culturel François Mitterrand in Canteleu for a tribute concert: Clinton Fearon Sings The Gladiators. A bassist, singer and songwriter, he joined The Gladiators in 1969 and helped shape their sound during the Studio One era, between taut roots reggae and songs rooted in daily life, the social sphere, and the spiritual.
On stage, Fearon revisits this repertoire in his own style: melodic basslines, poised and narrative singing, a classic roots groove, and more pared-down arrangements. This provides a chance to rediscover the Gladiators' imprint while hearing it through the artist's journey, who has also built a long solo career and adopted a more acoustic approach since settling in Seattle in the late 1980s. An evening conceived as a return to the essentials, told by one of those who played them from the inside.
