Considered an influential musician of his generation and one of the most notable saxophonists of the past thirty years, Steve Coleman has incorporated funk and hip-hop into complex rhythmic and melodic structures, influencing numerous contemporary groups.
Since the 1980s he has built bridges between jazz, funk, rap and music programming. An improviser and composer, he shapes compositions with complex structures.
