Info
Ocean Colour Scene play Cambridge Corn Exchange, Cambridge on 26 November 2026. Formed in Birmingham in 1989, the band emerged from the UK’s early 90s baggy and indie wave before settling into a direct, melodic strain of rock that blends britpop bite with bluesy guitars and a streak of English soul. The core of Simon Fowler, Steve Cradock and Oscar Harrison shaped a catalogue of concise songs with clear hooks and roomy grooves, breaking through in the mid-90s via close ties with Paul Weller—Cradock as a regular sideman, Fowler appearing on record—and a 1995 tour with Oasis.
Moseley Shoals (1996) and Marchin’ Already (1997) set their template, followed by One from the Modern (1999) and a steady run through the 2000s with Mechanical Wonder, North Atlantic Drift, A Hyperactive Workout for the Flying Squad, On the Leyline, Saturday and Painting. Still active on the road across the UK, Ocean Colour Scene lean into tight songwriting, discreet psych shades and a clear mod lineage. Live, sets often span early singles to later cuts, carried by clean guitars and supple rhythms.
