Info
On 8 May 2026 at the Royal Festival Hall in London, Incognito celebrates 45 years live with orchestra. Born on the late-70s Brit-funk scene and steered by guitarist-producer Jean-Paul “Bluey” Maunick, the London collective helped anchor UK acid jazz in the early 90s with albums like Inside Life, Tribes, Vibes and Scribes and Positivity. Built as a fluid ensemble, the band moves between instrumentals and vocal tracks, drawing from a pool of jazz, soul and funk players who give the music its supple groove and warm brass colours.
For this anniversary set, the group’s tight rhythm section meets widescreen orchestral textures. The catalogue is reworked for strings and expanded horn voicings, keeping the bounce while opening space for harmonies and improvisations. From the raw drive of Jazz Funk to the polished contours of 100° and Rising, Beneath the Surface, Tales from the Beach or Surreal, melodies and hooks find new shades without losing their core pulse. Bluey leads from the front, threading decades of London soul, funk and jazz into a single story that looks back without standing still.
