On December 20, 2026, The Brand New Heavies land at Blue Note London with that London-bred groove that’s been shaping dancefloors since the late ’80s. Built around founders Simon Bartholomew, Andrew Levy and Jan Kincaid, the band grew out of the acid jazz explosion with a sound that sits right between funk, soul and jazz-funk: tight drums, elastic bass lines, sharp guitar chops, and a constant focus on vocals.
Expect a set that moves through the group’s key eras, from the early self-titled material to the ’90s stretch where their songwriting opened up with N’Dea Davenport, and into the later records that kept the funk front and center while flirting with hip-hop touches and contemporary soul. Still driven today by Bartholomew and Levy alongside vocalist Angela Ricci, The Brand New Heavies come to London to do what they do best: keep it live, keep it rhythmic, and keep it moving.
