The Kooks

The Kooks bring their Brighton-born indie rock to The Piece Hall in Halifax on 19 June 2026. Formed in 2004, the UK band emerged from the mid-2000s scene with melodic guitars and direct, pop-leaning songwriting shaped by a britpop heritage. Built around Luke Pritchard and Hugh Harris, with Paul Garred at the origins and several changes on bass and drums over the years, the group has kept a clear focus on sharp hooks, tight riffs and concise song craft.

Their debut Inside In/Inside Out (2006) set the blueprint, followed by Konk (2008) which broadened the sound. Junk of the Heart (2011) leaned further into pop, while Listen (2014), co-produced with Inflo, brought in a looser groove and wider rhythmic patterns. Let’s Go Sunshine (2018) and 10 Tracks to Echo in the Dark (2022) folded in synth textures without losing the band’s indie pulse. On stage, The Kooks connect these different phases into a set that shifts from jangly indie to punchier pop rock, drawing across two decades of songs.
