Info
The Stylistics play Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Liverpool, on 27 November 2026, bringing the Philadelphia soul blueprint they helped shape. Formed in 1968 from neighborhood outfits the Monarchs and the Percussions, the group built a smooth blend of orchestral soul, soft R&B and vocal pop, first honed with arranger-producer Thom Bell and lyricist Linda Creed. That partnership delivered a run of songs that set their tone — Stop, Look, Listen, You Are Everything, Betcha by Golly, Wow, People Make the World Go Round, You Make Me Feel Brand New — carried by close harmonies and a weightless falsetto.
Today, founding voices Airrion Love and Herb Murrell lead the lineup with Jason Sharp, keeping the group’s mellow phrasing, stacked harmonies and measured dynamics alive on stage. Between early-70s ballads and the lighter grooves that followed later in the decade, the show draws from a catalogue made for unhurried sways and easy singalongs, a tour through the sound that linked Philly soul to pop without losing its warmth.
