On 2 November 2026 modern metalcore takes over TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht, with Erra and Currents on the bill, joined by Caskets.
Erra, from Birmingham, Alabama, has been developing a progressive take on the genre since 2009. Around guitarist and songwriter Jesse Cash, the band pairs technical riffs with expansive passages, driven by an interplay of screamed and melodic vocals. From the early Andromeda EP and Impulse through Augment, Drift and Neon to the self-titled album and Cure (2024), Erra has gradually moved toward a sharper balance between groove, layered guitars and atmospheric textures, with rhythmic turns that create tension in a live setting.
Currents, from Fairfield, Connecticut, couples angular riffs and tight rhythms with pronounced melody and subtle electronics. Releases such as The Place I Feel Safest, The Way It Ends and The Death We Seek emphasize contrast: harsh and clean vocals, breakdowns versus open, atmospheric sections. Themes like self-reflection, alienation and social pressure give that mix extra weight without draining the songs’ momentum.
Caskets, from Leeds, leans toward melodic post-hardcore: heavy guitars, synth layers and choruses that stick, carried by Matt Flood’s clear voice. On Lost Souls and Reflections there is a balance between percussive riffs and introspective hooks, with lyrics about vulnerability and resilience that easily connect in a live setting.
