Info
British band The Chameleons land in Barcelona on 8 November 2026 for a concert at Sala Razzmatazz. Formed in the early ’80s in Middleton, on the outskirts of Manchester, the group honed a brand of post‑punk defined by expansive guitars and clear melodies. Fronted by Mark Burgess on bass and vocals, they deliver songs in which driving basslines, echoing guitars that trace persistent motifs, and taut singing establish a sober atmosphere. Their catalog includes Script of the Bridge (1983), What Does Anything Mean? Basically (1985) and Strange Times (1986), records that fixed their idiom between new wave and atmospheric rock.
After their split in the late ’80s and a reactivation from 2000 onward, Burgess has kept the name alive with various lineups, alternating tours and pauses and revisiting the catalogue with restrained arrangements. Live, The Chameleons typically run through tracks from their 1980s albums alongside material from later periods, maintaining the melodic pulse and the interplay of arpeggios and delays that define them. On stage, their mix of post‑punk, atmospheric rock and guitar pop takes shape through contained dynamics and layers of sound that ebb and flow.
