Christopher Cross

On 4 May 2026 Christopher Cross will perform at TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht. The American singer-songwriter from San Antonio broke through in the late 1970s with a smooth soft-rock sound that later became known as yacht rock. His self-titled 1979 debut yielded “Ride Like the Wind” and “Sailing” and earned him several Grammy Awards in 1981. In the early 1980s he followed up with Another Page and Every Turn of the World, and co-wrote the theme for the film Arthur with Burt Bacharach and Carole Bayer Sager, which increased his presence on radio and soundtracks. After that his pop-rock shifted toward a more refined West Coast style, with albums such as Back of My Mind and Rendezvous. With Walking in Avalon he continued that trajectory, followed by Doctor Faith, Secret Ladder and Take Me As I Am, albums in which ballads, melodic pop and a touch of light jazz come together. Live, the emphasis is on melody and timing: warm vocal harmonies, clear guitar work and songs that unfold with an easy, relaxed feel. Expect a set that places his early work alongside recent material, with room for those familiar choruses.
