In three albums, Imarhan has emerged as one of the leading faces of the new Tuareg generation. Formed in Tamanrasset, the band shapes a contemporary assouf — that desert blues that recounts the daily life of Kel Tamashek youth, between the vastness of the Sahara and urban living. Their sound draws on ancestral roots while also feeding on the ballads of sub‑Saharan Africa, Algerian pop‑rock and Western influences heard as they grew up. Interweaving guitars, a supple bass, percussion and collective vocals create an organic, precise whole that reveals itself fully on stage and through headphones. Imarhan is currently preparing a new album to be released on City Slang. The band will return to Paris on 26 March 2026 at the Trabendo for a concert that refocuses attention on their songwriting, their arrangements and their way of grounding desert blues in the present.
