Dropout Kings

In the rap‑metal scene of Phoenix, Arizona, Dropout Kings have established a tight blend of trap, nu‑metal and hip‑hop since the latter half of the 2010s. Originating from the evolution of the local project Phoenix Down around singer Adam Ramey, the band operates as a collective built around two vocalists—rapping and singing—backed by heavily down‑tuned guitars, trap‑like rhythms and songwriting that alternates melodic choruses with chanted sections. Their debut album, AudioDope, was released in 2018 on Napalm Records and set the groundwork for this fusion of 2000s rapcore legacy and production influenced by contemporary rap. The 2019 EP GlitchGang refined the format with shorter, more direct tracks, while Riot Music, released in 2023 on Suburban Noize Records, further pushes contrasts between aggressive passages, metalcore influences and more melodic incursions. Regularly touring metal and alternative circuits, Dropout Kings are part of a generation of bands bridging hip‑hop culture, the hardcore scene and a digital aesthetic, with a sound designed for both live performance and streaming platforms.
