Oliver

Oliver was a Los Angeles–based producer and DJ duo formed by Vaughn Oliver and Oliver Goldstein, active during the 2010s. Rooted in their 1990s hip‑hop DJ and scratch backgrounds, Oliver developed an electronic sound strongly marked by funk, disco and pop, spanning nu‑disco, electro house and synth‑pop, with a clear taste for round basses, crisp rhythms and melodies inherited from the 1980s. The project emerged at the start of the decade with the EPs Dirty Talk (2012), Mechanical (2013) and Light Years Away (2014), before expanding into the album format with Full Circle in 2017, which featured guests such as De La Soul, MNDR, Chromeo, Sam Sparro and Yelle. Oliver was also active on the remix scene, reworking tracks by Chromeo, Britney Spears, Breakbot, Tove Lo and Beck, while simultaneously carrying out production and songwriting work for pop. Their aesthetic, both club‑oriented and meticulously crafted, continued on Inner Circle in 2018. In 2019 Vaughn Oliver stated that the two members were no longer working together, which effectively ended the duo Oliver’s regular activity.
