Tyler ICU

Born and raised in Kempton Park, Gauteng, Austin Khulani Baloyi, known as Tyler ICU, has built a career within the South African amapiano scene, at the crossroads of local house, rounded basslines and production focused on groove and vocals. As a DJ and producer, Tyler ICU gained wider visibility in 2020 with “Bella Ciao”, shared with Nicole Elocin, DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small, followed by the EP Money Heist that same year. In 2021 he continued this trajectory with “Banyana”, a collaboration with DJ Maphorisa, before reaching an even broader audience with “Mnike”, a track that marked a key moment in his spread beyond the amapiano circle. Tyler ICU’s path is characterised by frequent collaborations with South African artists and producers, while maintaining an identity centred on supple rhythms, restrained melodic textures and a club-minded approach designed as much for dancing as for listening.
