Uncle Waffles

Active on the southern African amapiano scene, Uncle Waffles established herself as a DJ and producer in 2021, when a video of one of her sets went viral on social media and quickly carried her from local clubs to international tours. Born in 2000 in Eswatini and later based in South Africa, she developed a style centered on amapiano, blending slow grooves, pronounced bass lines, repetitive percussive patterns and melodic vocal elements, with a highly choreographed stage presence. Her recording career began with the EP Red Dragon in 2022, which positioned Uncle Waffles as a rising figure in the genre, followed in 2023 by the EPs Asylum and Solace, where she pursued a more melodic, introspective songwriting approach while remaining dancefloor‑oriented. Across these projects she has frequently collaborated with a new generation of amapiano artists, including Tony Duardo, Sino Msolo and Pcee, and expanded her DJ work from Johannesburg clubs to festivals in Europe, the UK and North America, including an appearance at Coachella in 2023.
