Tasha & Tracie

From São Paulo, Tasha & Tracie bring together the twin sisters Tasha Okereke and Tracie Okereke, raised in the Jardim Peri neighbourhood in the north of the city, at the crossroads of Brazilian and Nigerian heritage. Their music sits within Brazilian rap by blending hip-hop, trap, paulista funk, grime, R&B and touches of dancehall, with writing anchored in the realities of the periphery, self-assertion, and the flows between fashion, image, and sound. Before their musical journey, Tasha & Tracie were active in fashion and independent media with the blog Expensive $hit, then in the nightlife scene as DJs, before launching as MCs. The duo emerged with the EP Rouff in 2019, then broadened their audience with tracks such as Tang in 2020 and especially with the EP Diretoria in 2021, which clarifies their approach between rap and funk. Tasha & Tracie then appear alongside several artists from the Brazilian scene, notably Gloria Groove on Lady Leste in 2022, Djonga on O dono do lugar in 2022 and Ludmilla on Sou Má in 2023. In 2023, the Yin Yang project, shared with Kyan and Gregory, shows a more intimate register. Present at festivals such as Rock in Rio, Primavera Sound São Paulo or Coala, Tasha & Tracie extend a career built between the São Paulo rap scene, favela culture and artistic direction.
