Snow Strippers
Active since the early 2020s, the American duo Snow Strippers belongs to a hybrid electronic scene at the crossroads of underground club culture, internet rap and aesthetics close to nightcore. Based in the United States and often linked to the Detroit sphere as well as the New York collective Surf Gang, Snow Strippers is built around a heavily processed vocalist and a producer who pushes electronic textures toward dark, saturated atmospheres. The project first emerged online — notably via SoundCloud — before circulating on club and festival stages focused on alternative music and digital experimentation. Musically, Snow Strippers blends fast rhythms, borrowings from techno and trance, pop‑like melodic lines and aggressive bass with pitched vocals that sometimes lean toward emo or melodic rap aesthetics. This approach is evident on projects such as the mixtape “April Mixtape” (2023) and the album “What You Want” (2023), which favour short, repetitive and immediately impactful tracks. The duo frequently collaborates with artists around Surf Gang while developing a visual identity marked by internet imagery and contemporary club culture codes, placing Snow Strippers among a generation of artists for whom online circulation and the physical scene operate in parallel.
