Shallipopi
Born in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, Crown Uzama records as Shallipopi, making music rooted in Nigerian street-pop at the crossroads of afrobeats, rap and amapiano inflections. His singing and rapping rely on short hooks, a pronounced use of Nigerian Pidgin English and a relaxed delivery that plays with repetition, spoken-line cadences and crisp, often club-oriented rhythms. Shallipopi emerged in 2023 with the track "Elon Musk", which boosted his circulation within the Nigerian afropop ecosystem and on the country’s urban stages. That year he released the project Presido La Pluto (2023) and followed up with Shakespopi (2024), consolidating a direct aesthetic built on minimal melodies, taut percussion and a very economical sense of phrase. Part of a new generation from southern Nigeria, Shallipopi moves between party-ready songs, melodic rap and street references while maintaining a clear link to Benin City in his language, themes and artistic presence.
