Milano

Born in France of Moroccan origin, rapper and singer Milano grew up immersed in soul, jazz and R&B before turning to French hip‑hop as a teenager and starting to rap at around 15. After settling in Dortmund in 2018 he adopted the stage name Milano and drew closer to the German rap scene, where he was noticed by rapper Sinan‑G, who signed him shortly afterwards. His first single, “Très jolie”, was released in 2019 in collaboration with rapper Rooz and marked his official entry into the German‑language rap landscape. In 2020 the track “Ich weiss” entered the German singles chart, followed the same year by “Maria” with Mika, which incorporates elements from Santana’s eponymous song and also charted in Germany. At the end of 2020 Milano joined the Vertigo Records label and in 2021 released the singles “Fallschirm”, “Ohne Dich” and “Leer”, which also charted. His writing mixes German and French over melodic rap productions influenced by R&B, favouring songs about relationships, everyday life and a sung‑rap sensitivity at the crossroads of several European scenes.
