Veeze

In Detroit's rap scene, rapper Veeze stands out for a laid-back delivery and highly conversational writing that is rooted in the everyday life of his city. Active since the late 2010s, Veeze gradually gained notice with a series of tracks released online and consolidated his world with the 2019 mixtape Navy Wavy, which established his sparse, often slow instrumentals and his taste for fragmented storytelling. The single Law N Order, released in 2022, marked a turning point by bringing Veeze an audience far beyond Detroit and positioning his rap among a new generation of voices from Michigan. In 2023, the album Ganger confirmed this direction with a collection of songs that extend this nonchalant, rhythmically off-kilter style, between minimalist trap and street rap. Since then Veeze has multiplied features within the Detroit scene and other American cities, using collaborations to broaden his range while maintaining an aesthetic focused on everyday details, discreet humor, and a very free approach to song structure.
