Depresión Sonora

From Madrid, where Marcos Crespo García launched Depresión Sonora in 2020, the project initially developed in a domestic setting, during lockdown, with Spanish-language writing oriented toward urban malaise, isolation, and the tensions of daily life. Depresión Sonora sits within a dark, spare post-punk, traversed by cold wave, lo-fi, and minimal electronics, with mechanical rhythms, pronounced bass lines, and short melodies that retain a form of pop dryness. After a self-titled first EP in 2020, Depresión Sonora released Historias tristes para dormir bien in 2021, followed by the first album El arte de morir muy despacio in 2022, where the sound expands in scope while preserving its frontality. The project's trajectory then moved through Spanish independent scenes and international tours, notably in Latin America. In 2024, Depresión Sonora released the EP MAKINAVAJA, extending this nerve-wracked and disenchanted writing. Behind the solo identity, Marcos Crespo evolves Depresión Sonora without leaving a cold, direct, and melodic aesthetic, situated between dark chanson, contemporary post-punk, and electronic textures.
