Jhariah

Under the name Jhariah, American Jhariah Clare has been developing a solo project since the late 2010s that sits between alternative rock, punk, emo, theatrical pop and electronic touches, with a marked taste for conceptual narratives and tonal contrasts. Initially active online under the alias ShinySwordStorm, he released the single “Catch Me If You Can” in 2017, a prelude to the album The Great Tale of How I Ruined It All, released in 2018. Also trained in illustration and 2D animation at the Pratt Institute in New York, Jhariah builds a coherent visual universe to accompany a dramatic, often narrative songwriting style where pop choruses, taut guitars, cabaret flourishes and punk energy intersect. His discography expanded with the EP To Mend the Sun in 2020, then A Beginner’s Guide to faking your death in 2021 — whose track “Needed a Change of Pace” broadened his audience — followed by A Beginner’s Guide to luck & liability in 2023 and the album TRUST CEREMONY in 2024. Jhariah has also increased collaborations within the American alternative scene, notably with Telethon, Save Face, Henry d’Arthenay and Pinkshift, with whom he shared the track “Eat your friends” in 2023, extending a career that moves between the internet, independent stages and DIY touring.
