tobi lou

Born in Lagos and raised in Chicago, tobi lou, whose real name is Tobi Adeyemi, has since the mid-2010s developed a sound at the crossroads of pop rap, contemporary R&B and melodic hip-hop, combining singing, relaxed rapping and tracks with pop and soul shades. After a career in collegiate and then semi-professional baseball that was cut short by an injury, tobi lou devoted himself fully to music and released his first songs in 2015. He gained wider recognition in 2018 with the EP trilogy tobi lou and the Moon, tobi lou and the Loop and tobi lou and the Juice, which established the foundations of an intimate songwriting style—light on the surface but often attentive to doubt, relationships and everyday life. Active between Chicago and Los Angeles, tobi lou is part of the American alternative rap scene and has collaborated over the years with Smino, Dreezy, Saba, T-Pain, Chief Keef and Kota the Friend, while appearing on tours with Kyle and later T-Pain. tobi lou released his debut album, Live On Ice, in 2019, followed by Non-Perishable in 2022. In 2023 he continued this evolution with Baggy Weather and ’Decent, two projects made with Farada, before extending that collaboration on the EP Young Bopalopalous in 2024.
