Ferdi
Trained on saxophone from childhood in Marchiennes, in the Hauts-de-France, Ferdi developed early a playing style focused on sound and melody. Under his full name, Ferdinand Lemoine, he studied at the conservatories in Douai, Valenciennes and then at the Conservatoire of Brussels, where he turned to jazz and deepened his improvisation. Based between Brussels and Paris, Ferdi is part of an instrumental scene that crosses contemporary jazz, indie-pop and soul and funk influences, with a pronounced taste for atmospheric moods and pared-down structures. He can be heard notably alongside pianist Sofiane Pamart and trumpeter Béesau, in projects that blur the boundaries between club music, pop songwriting and jazz tradition. His compositions favor simple motifs, carried by an often lyrical saxophone, and leave ample room for group dynamics. Both as a soloist and with expanded ensembles, Ferdi performs on stages such as Ancienne Belgique in Brussels and New Morning in Paris, and maintains a steady schedule of concerts and recordings that anchor his work in the renewal of contemporary instrumental music.
