Nuha Ruby Ra
Based in London and linked to the eastern fringe of the city’s alternative scene, Nuha Ruby Ra develops a project at the border of post-punk, art rock, industrial and a dark pop with electronic edges. Her approach blends physical tension, spoken word, inhabited singing and abrasive textures, in a format that can range from solo to a widened group depending on the stage contexts. After participating in various musical projects and artistic collectives, Nuha Ruby Ra introduced her name at the turn of the 2020s with a series of singles and EPs, including How To Move in 2020, followed by Machine Like Me in 2021. Her first album, CRIMEWAVE, was released in 2022. This trajectory is part of a network of shows in the United Kingdom and Europe, where Nuha Ruby Ra notably shares billings with Snapped Ankles, Fat White Family, Amyl and the Sniffers, Yard Act, Viagra Boys, Self Esteem or King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Nuha Ruby Ra is also featured in collaborations or contributions related to bands such as Flamingods, Warmduscher or Bo Ningen. At Nuha Ruby Ra, writing favors contrasts between raw impulse, repetitive motifs and more introspective moods, with an aesthetic that borrows as much from experimental rock as from a form of contemporary performance.
