Bad Waitress

Born out of Toronto’s DIY scene, punk band Bad Waitress have developed a sound that blends garage energy, noise dissonance and a post-hardcore-adjacent approach. Formed from an earlier incarnation called Nanci, Bad Waitress gradually made their mark on Canada’s independent stages before signing with Royal Mountain Records. The quartet frames its songs around angular guitar riffs, a pronounced rhythm section and vocals that alternate between singing, screaming and spoken-sung delivery, with lyrics that tackle social tensions, gender issues and a certain urban malaise head-on. Their first recorded milestone was the EP “Party Bangers, Vol. 1” (2018), where Bad Waitress laid the foundations of a world that is abrasive yet tinged with dark humour. In 2021 the album “No Taste” deepened that identity through frequent tempo shifts, dynamic contrasts and fractured structures, placing Bad Waitress in a contemporary punk lineage that willingly borrows from alternative rock and noise to present a more chaotic and expressive version.
