Sansibar
Based in Helsinki, Finnish producer and DJ Sansibar is part of the contemporary electronic scene that links electro, techno, breakbeat and trance reminiscences. Initially active as a DJ within the capital’s underground club circuit, Sansibar was noticed in the mid‑2010s through a series of maxi releases on specialized European labels that highlighted a dancefloor‑oriented approach with fast tempos, pronounced basslines and melodic work often tinged with futuristic atmospheres. His productions range from sci‑fi‑tinged electro to hypnotic techno and more atmospheric, ambient‑leaning forms, while retaining a strong club grounding. Alongside his studio releases, Sansibar maintains a busy DJ schedule, connecting Helsinki’s scene to a network of international clubs and collectives and appearing regularly on lineups focused on experimental and hybrid electronic music. This dual practice as producer and selector shapes Sansibar’s development, gradually refining an aesthetic where the classic electro heritage intersects with contemporary influences from European scenes.
