Melt
Formed in New York in 2017, Melt initially began as a collective of young musicians before coalescing around singer Veronica Stewart-Frommer, guitarist Marlo Shankweiler and bassist Lucas Saur. The band’s songwriting sits between indie pop, soul, soft rock and R&B-tinged pop, with a clear taste for warm arrangements, vocal harmonies and an approach that blends melodic efficiency with ensemble flexibility. Melt first circulated with the track “Sour Candy,” then refined its identity on the EP West Side Highway, released in 2021, a record shaped during a period when collective writing played a larger role. In 2024 Melt released its debut album, If There’s a Heaven, produced by Sam Evian and recorded live, which enhances the songs’ organic presence as they move between ballad, rhythmic pop and rock-soul. The band’s trajectory has also been built on stage, in a lineup conceived for live performance, with support slots and appearances on programs tied to the contemporary American indie scene.
