Salmo
Born in 1984 in Olbia, Sardinia, Maurizio Pisciottu, known as Salmo, entered the Italian rap scene from a background rooted in punk and hardcore metal, which he gradually translated into a hip‑hop language. Salmo emerged in the early 2010s with the album The Island Chainsaw Massacre (2011), followed by Death USB (2012), which established a style combining aggressive rap, electronic textures, metal references and dark atmospheres. With Midnite (2013) and Hellvisback (2016) he refined a universe where blunt writing, cinematic imagery and dense production intersect, continuing this trajectory with Playlist (2018) and Flop (2021), always oscillating between rap, trap and rock influences. A central member of the Machete Crew collective and associated with the Machete Empire Records label, Salmo has engaged in numerous collaborations within the Italian scene—notably with Marracash, Nitro and Noyz Narcos—and takes part in directing his own videos and shaping the visual aesthetic of his projects. His career thus combines studio work, producing, tours in large venues and a regular presence at rap and rock festivals in Italy.
