Moontricks

Born in the Kootenays region of British Columbia, Moontricks is a Canadian duo that blends electronic music with North American folk heritage. Centered on producer Nathan Gurley and songwriter‑singer Sean Rodman, Moontricks has developed since the early 2010s a sound where bass music, downtempo and touches of glitch mingle with acoustic guitars, banjo, harmonica and voices tinged with blues and country. Their early tracks circulated online and on the festival stages of Western Canada before taking the group onto a broader North American circuit, between electro clubs and outdoor events. Through EPs and singles released notably on the Westwood Recordings label, the project honed a songwriting approach focused on melody, sung choruses and organic textures integrated into electronic structures. The release of the album Currents in 2022 marked a milestone in Moontricks' discography, gathering its different facets — from instrumental, bass‑oriented pieces to songs closer to a form of electronic americana. Moontricks continues to tour with a stage setup that highlights the duo and the balance between acoustic live performance and electronic production.
