Marc Hervieux
A Quebec tenor born in Montreal, Marc Hervieux has built a career at the crossroads of opera, chanson, and what is often termed “popular classical” music. Having taken up classical singing relatively late, he first made his mark on opera stages in Canada and Europe, tackling a lyric tenor repertoire that ranges from 19th‑century Italian works to major French scores. Alongside his stage engagements, he embarked on a recording career aimed at a wide audience, bringing his operatic technique to popular songs, Italian melodies, and Francophone chansons. His 2009 album “A Napoli” marked an initial milestone devoted to Neapolitan songs, followed in 2010 by “Le Premier Noël de Marc Hervieux,” which established him in an accessible, festive repertoire. Throughout the 2010s, Hervieux multiplied projects that combined covers, standards, and new songs, while continuing collaborations with orchestras and classical ensembles. Also active in Quebec’s media landscape as a host and a regular guest on cultural programs, he has charted a path where recitals, operatic productions, and recordings for a broad audience coexist, with no divide between his work as an opera tenor and as a singer of popular song.
