Karan Aujla
Born in 1997 in the village of Ghurala in the state of Punjab, India, Karan Aujla is part of a new generation of Punjabi artists active between India and Canada. Initially working as a lyricist, he first attracted attention by writing songs for established Punjabi singers before gradually moving into singing and rap. Karan Aujla developed a style that blends Punjabi pop, hip‑hop and trap sounds, with lyrics that alternate between everyday life stories, diasporic themes and imagery typical of contemporary Punjabi music. His career gained momentum in the late 2010s through a series of widely played singles, often produced in collaboration with the Indo‑Canadian scene. In 2021, he released his first studio album, B.T.F.U. (BacThaFu*Up), produced with Tru Skool, which featured a deliberate return to arrangements inspired by classic bhangra. He followed with the EP Way Ahead in 2022 and Four You in 2023, and later that year released the album Making Memories in close collaboration with producer Ikky, confirming a more melodic direction where Punjabi rap, sung choruses and R&B influences coexist.
