Kendal

Originally from Toulouse, producer and DJ Kendal has been developing since the late 2010s a personal synthesis of italo disco, EBM, synthwave and rave energy, where prominent melodic lines and dark atmospheres coexist. Spotted by Dutchman David Vunk, he released the maxi Manifesto in 2019 on Moustache Records, which established a sound nourished as much by the euphoria of the ’80s and ’90s as by a cinematic imagination marked by Italian giallo films. This release initiated an ongoing collaboration with David Carretta and caught the attention of Jennifer Cardini, who invited him to her label Dischi Autunno. In 2020 the EP Inferno appeared on that imprint, extending his work around catchy synth melodies and club-oriented rhythms, with tracks like Intacto and Moresko quickly added to playlists by DJs such as DJ Hell, Ellen Allien and Skatebård. Active as a resident DJ since 2010, notably at the Bikini in Toulouse, Kendal alternates between extended warm-ups and more direct late-night sets, and has been performing increasingly in Berlin, Paris and the Netherlands. Still based in Toulouse, he co-founded in 2020 with Paul Guglielmi the label Ritmo Fatale, conceived as a space to develop this italo/EBM/synthwave aesthetic and to spotlight the scene orbiting him.
