Steve 'N' Seagulls

First appearing in Finland in 2014, Steve 'n' Seagulls developed a format in which hard rock and heavy metal classics are rearranged into an acoustic bluegrass, country and folk aesthetic, featuring banjo, accordion, double bass, mandolin, guitar and percussion. The project quickly gained momentum after an online release of their cover of AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck”, which positioned Steve 'n' Seagulls in a register that is rural in form yet strongly marked by rock energy in tempo and dynamics. The Finnish lineup then embarked on tours across Europe and North America, playing stages that attract rock and metal audiences as well as general festival crowds. Steve 'n' Seagulls’ discography includes Farm Machine (2015), Brothers in Farms (2016), Grainsville (2018) and Another Miracle (2020), alternating between covers and original compositions. Over the years the band has honed an identity centered on lively acoustic arrangements, restrained polyphony and a collective performance style that transposes a historically amplified repertoire into a string-band format without losing its rhythmic tension.
