Pete & Bas

In London, Pete & Bas have been developing since 2017 a British rap at the crossroads of UK drill, grime and English hip-hop, featuring direct lyrics, dark productions and a delivery that plays as much on street storytelling as on dry humour. The duo, made up of Peter Bowditch and Basil Bellgrave, drew attention with the single "Shut Ya Mouth", before following up with tracks such as "Dents in a Peugeot", "The Old Estate" with M24 and "Bermondsey", which firmly situate Pete & Bas in a very London imagination, notably linked to the city's southeast. Their trajectory was built first online and then on stage, within rap and urban circuits where their atypical position accompanied a genuine embedding in the genre's codes rather than a mere image oddity. Pete & Bas also collaborated with Fumez the Engineer on "Plugged In", as well as with Norman Pain and Patrick Karneigh Jr. in a similar vein. On long formats, Pete & Bas released the mixtape Quick Little Mixtape in 2021 and the album Mugshot in 2024, confirming a project rooted in the contemporary British rap scene.
