Varg²™

Raised in Ursviken in northern Sweden, Jonas Rönnberg has developed, under the names Varg and later Varg²™, a career rooted in the Nordic electronic scenes. His music mixes techno, ambient, noise, distorted trance and club music into a cold, jagged and often melancholic aesthetic, where hazy pads meet dry rhythms and fragmented structures. Varg²™ has released on labels and platforms associated with that milieu, including Northern Electronics and Posh Isolation, building a dense catalogue of solo releases, side projects and collaborations. In 2018 he circulated the EP **** *** ****** in exchange for donations for children affected by the civil war in Yemen. In 2019, after receiving a cease‑and‑desist from the German group Varg, Jonas Rönnberg abandoned that original stage name, adopted Varg²™ and released the EP Fuck Varg. His recent work continues this blend of abstraction, club tension and more emotionally driven songwriting, as on the 2024 track "Is There a Place in Heaven for Boys like Me?" made with Skrillex and Bladee and later included on the album Nordic Flora Series, Part 6: Outlaw Music.
