Duda Beat
Born in Recife, in northeastern Brazil, in 1987, Duda Beat—born Eduarda Bittencourt Simões—crafts an emotive pop that blends brega, synth-pop, R&B, and electronic music. Based in Rio de Janeiro, she emerged in the mid-2010s within the city’s independent scene, first through a series of online singles and then via concerts in mid-sized venues. Her debut album, Sinto Muito (2018), laid the groundwork for a world centered on romantic disillusionment, accessible melodies, and a marked use of slow rhythms—often associated in Brazil with "sofrência pop." With Te Amo Lá Fora (2021), Duda Beat expands this intimate writing toward denser arrangements, where global pop influences, the heritage of Brazilian romantic music, and darker electronic touches coexist. Carried by a clear voice and a delivery often close to spoken conversation, her lyrics address jealousy, breakups, vulnerability, and self-reclamation, in a direct, urban register. By multiplying collaborations with producers and musicians from Brazil’s new pop and electronic scenes, Duda Beat moves between clubs, festivals, and studio projects, consolidating a distinctive position in the landscape of contemporary Lusophone pop.
