The Big Idea
The Big Idea is a group living communally since 2015 in the Bordeaux region, where over the years they have forged a rare collective identity: five members, five voices, and a way of working based entirely on unanimity. After several projects that built their reputation on joyful energy, fanciful scenarios and maritime escapades, the group is entering a new phase with a sixth album scheduled for autumn 2025. Produced by Jeremy R. G. Snyder, whose path has crossed bands such as Idles, DITZ and Lambrini Girls, this new chapter introduces a firmer streak of dark humour and a pronounced sonic shift. Guitars gain in tension, brass move to the foreground, and influences slide gradually from the United States toward the United Kingdom without simply mimicking current trends in the British indie scene. True to their collective ethos, The Big Idea favours experimentation: extended instrumental passages, deliberate ruptures, and choruses written to be picked up by friends at the bar. At the heart of this trajectory remains the same desire: to tell the world's absurdities with a wry smile, a drink in hand and the band spirit that has accompanied them from the start.
