anees
Born in Washington, D.C. in 1992 and raised in Northern Virginia, anees (born Anees Mokhiber) makes music at the crossroads of pop, R&B, hip‑hop and pop‑rap, driven by a supple vocal delivery, melodic hooks and songwriting closely tied to freestyle. Of Palestinian and Lebanese descent, anees began circulating his tracks in the late 2010s on Instagram and TikTok before officially launching his discography in 2020 with 'Neverland Fly', followed by 'Brown Kid' and 'Maybe'. In 2021 anees broadened his audience with 'Slip', a more intimate track that marked his shift from frontal rap toward a more sung approach, followed by 'Love Is Crazy', 'Drunk on Myself' and 'What Lovers Do' with Kevin Spears. In 2022 'Sun and Moon' established anees internationally with luminous pop‑R&B and became the first song by an international artist to reach number one on Billboard's Philippines Songs chart. That turn led to Summer Camp, his first album, released in 2024, where anees continues a format blending personal confession, melodic rap and songcraft.
