Ivy Lab

Based in London, Ivy Lab brings together Sabre, real name Govind Kidao, and Stray, Jonathan Fogel, after previously working as a trio with Halogenix between 2012 and 2018. The project was born in the wake of the British drum and bass scene, but quickly deviated to develop a more hybrid writing, at the crossroads of dubstep, bass music, halftime, electronica and hip-hop inflections. The first tracks, including Oblique in 2013, appeared on Critical Music before the group structured its activity around its own label, 20/20 LDN. Ivy Lab then refined a sound marked by broken rhythms, dense basslines and a more abstract than frontal approach, also conceived for the club as for listening. After Halogenix's departure, the duo continued this evolution with the albums Death Doesn’t Always Taste Good in 2018, Infinite Falling Ground in 2022 and Infinite Falling Ground Pt 2 in 2024, incorporating a more developed narrative and audiovisual dimension. Over the years Ivy Lab also multiplied collaborations, notably with Alix Perez, Mefjus and Two Fingers, and established themselves on stages where experimental electronic music, bass music and live A/V formats intersect.
