Rhyw

Under the name Rhyw, Alex Cassegrain develops an electronic project rooted in minimal, nervy and fragmented techno, where broken rhythms, deep bass and a very precise treatment of sonic material retain a constant link to the dancefloor. Rhyw releases primarily on Fever AM, the label he runs with Mor Elian, but also on Voam and SSPB, Modeselektor’s imprint, situating his work between contemporary techno, broken beat and more mutated forms of club music. Rhyw’s emergence accelerated with the track “Biggest Bully,” and another cut, “Honey Badger,” released in 2022 on Voam, circulated widely across techno and leftfield scenes. Alongside his releases, Rhyw has performed in settings such as Berghain, Berlin Atonal and Boiler Room Tokyo, as well as on several tours in Asia and the United States. Rhyw also hosts a show on Rinse FM for Fever AM with Mor Elian and has produced mixes for various specialist media and platforms. Since 2023 he has also presented a noted live set at festivals including Draaimolen, Primavera, Mutek and Positive Education.
