Flava D

Born Danielle Anne Louise Gooding, Flava D grew up between Bournemouth and Birmingham in an environment shaped by early UK garage sounds and British pirate radio. Active since the late 2000s, she first gained attention with grime and hip‑hop productions uploaded online before connecting with Wiley, with whom she released several early tracks. Her trajectory shifted when she joined the circle around Butterz, a label central to her move toward a sound more firmly rooted in UK garage, bassline and English club music. Flava D developed a direct rhythmic approach focused on bass, garage syncopations and efficient dancefloor formats, while also exploring house and, later, drum and bass. She appears as a solo artist on projects such as More Love (2015), More Love 2 (2018) and the Spicy Noodles EP (2018), and is also part of TQD, a trio formed with Royal‑T and DJ Q whose album ukg was released in 2017. Visible on club stages and radio, she has hosted shows on Rinse FM and Kiss before signing with Hospital Records in 2020, a period that coincided with a more pronounced presence of drum and bass in her discography.
