Amnesia Scanner

Formed in Berlin in 2014 by Finns Ville Haimala and Martti Kalliala, Amnesia Scanner develops a project at the crossroads of electronic music, performance and installation, in constant engagement with contemporary uses of technology. The duo operates in a field where sound experimentation, deconstructed club music, industrial textures, synthetic voices and deliberately unstable pop structures meet. After the mixtape AS Live [][][][][] in 2014, Amnesia Scanner refined its language with Angels Rig Hook in 2015, an audio piece that mixes machinic narration, ambient tension and fragmented rhythms. The EPs AS and AS Truth, released in 2016 on Young Turks, extend this abrasive aesthetic, between altered rave pulses, distorted bass and digital overload. In 2018 Amnesia Scanner released Another Life on PAN, a debut album that pushes further the articulation between songwriting and jarring electronics, with references ranging from doombahton to gabber and atmospheres close to industrial and experimental pop. Present as much in clubs as in exhibition spaces, Amnesia Scanner evolves its practice between performance, image and sound environment.
