Kuniyuki

Based in Sapporo on the island of Hokkaido in Japan, Kuniyuki Takahashi has been developing since the 1990s a body of work located between deep house, future jazz, techno and experimental music, with a marked attention to textures, percussion and extended forms. A DJ, producer and sound engineer, he has also used several aliases depending on the context—notably Forth for productions close to dub techno and acid house, Frr Hive for downtempo and drum and bass territories, and Koss for a more techno-oriented vein. His discography under his own name includes, among others, We Are Together and Journey (2006), All These Things (2007), Walking In The Naked City (2010) and Feather World (2013), mainly on the Mule Musiq label. Under the name Koss he released Ring (2001), Ancient Rain (2008) and Silence (2015). His career also includes collaborations with Henrik Schwarz and work within DRP with Tomoyuki Murashige. In both his productions and his sets, Kuniyuki makes house pulse coexist with improvisation, organic atmospheres and more abstract structures.
